| 3 Blessing of the Throats
BLESSING OF THE THROATS On February 3rd the Church commemorates the Memorial of St. Blase, Bishop & Martyr. Around the year 320, through his prayers to God, he was able to effect a cure for a boy dying of a throat disease. The Blessing of Throats soon became an annual Catholic tradition. In anticipation of the Feast of St. Blase, the Blessing of Throats will be imparted collectively at all Masses on the weekend of January 29th and 30th, incorporating the intercessory prayer with the Final Blessing at Mass. If someone desires a repeated, individual blessing, Msgr. Andy will oblige you after the Closing Hymn. The Blessing will also be imparted at morning Mass on February 3rd. May we all be reminded and comforted in knowing that each time we receive Holy Communion, we are most profoundly consuming, past our throats, the Sacrament of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus.
